As my parents drove me down the bumpy road to my camp my stomach was tied in knots and my forehead was very wet with sweat . My parents parked the car and I was greeted with 4 smiling faces. I chose my bunk and settled in.The first night everybody was excited and it took a long, long time before we all got to sleep. The names of the people in my cabin are Sarah, Caitlin, Madeleine, Karen and I (Morgan). The next day we were all very tired. The whole camp went around to activities and played games. That night was totally insane...
We all got into our beds after a long day and suddenly it started to pour. The rain pelted on the roof of our cabin making such a noise that I couldn't hear myself think! It started to thunder and lightning brightened the sky.
Soon everybody was asleep except me. I sat in bed staring up at the ceiling. Karen woke up and started crying because she was homesick. I tiptoed over and comforted her.
Suddenly the door flung open, everybody jumped and we all looked at the door. It was dark you could barely see anything. Nobody wanted to go close the door. We all got back into bed, snuggled under the covers and whispered to each other.
We all whispered to each other for about an other hour. Then we all heard pitter... patter... pitter... patter from outside our door. It became louder... and louder till it it was inside our door. Everyone's face turned white and our mouths dropped open in horror!
I reached over and turned on the light. There standing at the door was a skunk and in its mouth was a dead squirrel! He ran over to my boots, sniffed and dropped the squirrel right on my boots.
The next day we had laundry (which we really needed). Our counsellor went to town and bought us an air freshener but the smell of the skunk was always in the cabin.
The skunk was sent to the Humane Society and the squirrel was thrown in the garbage.
